John E. Bournas Named Executive Director
EVANSTON, Ill. (Sept. 25, 2020) – Elizabeth I. McBurney, MD, Chair of the Board of Trustees and Janet A. Fairley, MD, President of the Dermatology Foundation are pleased to announce the appointment of John E. Bournas, MBA as Executive Director. Mr. Bournas is a senior executive in the global healthcare sector where he led teams in cardiology, drug shortages mitigation and hemophilia humanitarian aid programs, supporting patients and members alike.
“It’s a great honor for me to join the Dermatology Foundation, which for more than five decades has funded innovative dermatology research,” said Bournas. “I know the value of community to researchers and of timely delivery of treatment to patients. With our dedicated members and staff, I want to help the Foundation reach an even more diverse group of patients and broaden the scope of research.”
Dr. McBurney remarked that “John joins the Dermatology Foundation as it pivots into a decade that promises pioneering treatments for patients.”
“His experience in working with physicians, funding patient-driven programs and forging strong relationships with industry will cement the Foundation’s standing for all stakeholders,” added Dr. Fairley.
Pharmaceutical industry publication The Medicine Maker recognized Bournas as a “Top-10 Industry Influencer” in its “Power Lists” of 2017, 2018 and 2019.
