Dermatology Foundation Awards $2.7 million in Research Funding

Thanks to the support of its physician members and industry supporters during a turbulent year, the Dermatology Foundation (DF) was able to award $2.7 million in research support for 2021. Sixty-two (62) individuals have received funding effective July 1, 2021. The sole purpose of the Foundation is to advance patient care by supporting the early research efforts of the most promising physician scientists and investigators pursuing academic and research careers in dermatology.

The DF offers five categories of awards: mid-career, career development, fellowship, research grant, and since 2018, a diversity research award that supports all aspects of dermatology. Award applications are reviewed by the DF’s outstanding Medical & Scientific Committee, and Clinical/Medical/Surgical/Dermpath Panel. These volunteers lend their expertise to the review process in order to identify those applications that are scientifically meritorious and have the potential to further the specialty of dermatology.
