2022 Research Award Funding

Despite the continuing pandemic, the DF was able to award $2.5 million in research support. This year’s 49 award recipients represent 29 academic institutions located across the U.S. Awards were funded in 13 mid-career, career development, fellowship, and grant categories. These emerging and mid-career investigators will pursue novel questions that will expand the specialty’s knowledge and understanding in a broad range of dermatologic conditions and topics such as immunotherapy, melanoma, skin of color, wound healing, atopic dermatitis, and epidemiology.

An additional 16 Diversity Research Awards were funded. Designed to enhance diversity in dermatology, each award enables a medical student—identified as belonging to an under-represented minority (URM) group — to obtain an in-depth research experience.

The DF congratulates its 2022 research award recipients. The Foundation’s Medical and Scientific Committee reviewed many promising proposals and identified those which are most meritorious and impactful for the future of dermatology. We are pleased to support the work of these individuals.
